Sacrificial Overcoat Protects and Extends Life
The thermal spray surface coating is protected with an overcoat of Boron-based sealant, applied with a simple air spray gun. This outer sealant is sacrificial and protects the coating layer beneath it. Periodic re-applying the outer sealant during normal maintenance expends the life of the surface layer coating and is of minimal cost compared to replacing the surface layer itself or the entire component. The sealant is supplied together with the Boromet powder for a complete system capability.
