Overview
6-10X longer life in liquid metal corrosion applications compared to the conventional moly boride and tungsten carbide coatings.
Boromet is a self-lubricating nano-composite material with high toughness, corrosion- and wear-resistant nano-engineered boride- based ternary and binary ceramic with an adjusted thermal expansion coefficient. Nano-engineered metal-boride based cermets also incorporate solid lubricants and surface tension modifiers to provide ultimate wear and corrosion resistance.
The Boromet thermal spray system, applied as a combined coating and sealant system, can provide superior corrosion protection – as well as other valuable properties – for components in a great variety of metal processing and metal forming situations.
The chart below depicts the performance of Boromet™ 144 liquid metal corrosion coating solution with the currently used solutions. Boromet™ 144 coatings offer at least 6X extended life for coatings, and thus for the components used with liquid metals leading to significant reductions (~70%) in downtime costs.
